A team of cleaners, upon discovering a Nazi document archive in an old basement, awakens the
supernatural horror lurking there. Former American soldier Gunner becomes obsessed with
uncovering the basement’s secret, but the house’s past begins to creep ever deeper into his body
and mind. Solvent is a radical horror comedy, where elements of “body horror” draw inspiration

Johannes Grenzfurthner is an artist, filmmaker, and founder of the film production studio
monochrom. He teaches at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and at Leuphana University in
Germany, and is the director of the festivals Arse Elektronika and Roboexotica. His works have
been presented at international festivals such as SXSW and Fantastic Fest. Grenzfurthner’s
creative output spans contemporary art, activism, humor, and pop culture.
